Beinfu.I tolerate the character, hate the voice acting. I loved the enemies, Arthur was fleshed out enough to understand why he did what he did but also gave you the drive to stop him. Eizen.the bad luck shtick was a bit thing and overplayed but his development with Zavied and his sister was enjoyable. Magilou being QUEEN even if she's written as the annoying mage was a blast, and I enjoyed her being a downright troll and devils advocate. Rokurou just being truly comfortable with who he is was refreshing, it made his drive against his brother tolerable and fun. Eleanor wanting to eventually break away from her lawful good self to find answers was endearing, as was her relationship with Laphicet. Laphi is best boy, I really dug his themes of identity and coming to terms with who he is. I loved the characters in general, which is commendable because I usually dislike 1 or more characters in a Tales cast. That said the sheer number of them that don't lead to much (and constantly come up) is a bit annoying. It may not be my favorite due to not being as organic as party conversations in Nier but I did feel really connected to the party thanks to them. Skits are invaluable for character exposition. Every characters reasoning and development felt satisfying, and although taking on the church is a well treaded trope I enjoyed every minute of it. I may be misremembering but I never got a "power of friendship" copout in the game, or atleast it wasn't thrown in my face. Her whole drive is being salty and angry at the world, and eventually coming to the point of accepting the tragedy that happened really resonated with me. I truly adored the anti-hero vibes throughout the journey, and Velvet's character development is some of my favorite in video games. Overall the game does have a darker tone, but it doesn't over encompass the themes set in place. Or atleast thats the vibe I got from trailers snippets of the game. The first thing that drew my attention pre release was some of the "light" inspiration to darker themes and media, ala Bloodborne or Berserk. So once I came back to Abyss I was really curious to see if I liked it. That said Abyss and Xillia 1/2 are some of my favorites in the franchise, with Zestiria being.okay. TALES OF BERSERIA ELEANOR RELATIONSHIP TO LAPHICET FREEI'm not a fan of Symphonia, and although I am going to give it a chance again soon I LOATHED Vesperia (feel free to ask me why!). Sometimes it just clicks, and others I just really bounce off of. I have a love hate thing going on with this series. ![]() But due to the hype of Arise eventually coming out I wanted to really sink my teeth into it and see where it stood compared to the rest of the franchise for me. I've had a copy of Berseria on my hands since release but due to ending a relationship at the time I was hesitant to pick it back up. The quarantine has given us an opportunity to really hammer in on our backlogs. TALES OF BERSERIA ELEANOR RELATIONSHIP TO LAPHICET PROI was wanting my first thread to be a fanart request thread but I'm still waiting on my Ipad Pro and Pencil :( ![]()
